Taking Care of Trees in the City
September 9, 2010 | Filed Under Trees | 12 Comments

One day, you’re walking down the street minding your own business. You happen to look up and spot in a tree, not a sparrow, or a pigeon or some other kind of bird, but a man. A very big man, standing precariously on a small limb that looks like it might snap at any minute if he’s not careful. You stop to watch him for a few minutes and he seems to know what he’s doing and he’s careful about it. On the ground is another man, watching closely and tightly holding a rope attached to the man above. You look around and notice that no one else stopped to observe the men. Everyone is on the go. It’s as if a man, high above, in a tree is a normal, daily sight. You shake your head, shrug your shoulders, pull out your camera, snap a few pics and move on.

It rained Wednesday night and lots of puddles turned up everywhere, the next morning. Here’s are a few, filled with Autumn leaves and reflections of empty trees.
Yay! It’s Friday. Have a great day!

Another Squirrel Nest
November 14, 2009 | Filed Under Autumn/Fall, New York City Wildlife, Squirrels, Trees | 4 Comments

There are a lot of trees in the city that are still full of leaves and are still changing colors. Here’s one of the few trees I’ve seen that has lost all its leaves. Right on the top is a squirrel nest, like the one that I mentioned about in the post below.

Behind the trees in Riverside park, I spy some kind of red boat a red barge on the Hudson river. It’s been there all weekend.
Happy Ruby Tuesday!
