At some point in the day, the snowflakes that fell were big and fat.

They looked so beautiful on the branches and leaves.

It rained Wednesday night and lots of puddles turned up everywhere, the next morning. Here’s are a few, filled with Autumn leaves and reflections of empty trees.

I passed by a bush of leaves and was amazed to see that the top part had turned red but the bottom part was still green. Check out WORK OF THE POET to see other fun Ruby Tuesday entries.

Autumn is Here!

Well, actually autumn hasn’t quite arrived yet. We still have summer weather — hot and sometimes uncomfortable — but I’m excited that my favorite season is right around the corner. Yesterday, I looked up and noticed that the leaves of some of the trees are already changing colors — glorious Autumn colors! I was surprised to see this but also very happy. Yay!
What’s your favorite season?

Ed. Note: It seems that there could be a whole other reason for the change in the color of the leaves at this time of the year. It’s not a sign of an approaching Autumn as I thought — At least, not yet. Abraham made an interesting comment and I wanted to highlight it here.
Thanks, Abraham and thanks to all who have pointed out that there’s something good in ALL of the seasons!

"I suspect some leaf color changes might be due to the dry weather this summer. I know we are seeing leaves change color here but in most instances it is the lack of water.
The trees and some bushes shut down leaves to stay alive as long as possible and those leaves turn brown and other colors in the dying process.
The leaves change colors as the days grow shorter and it is hastened along when they are hit by the first frost.
I don’t live in a large city but I am guessing that the heat or drying heat is much more intense around all that brick and mortar and asphalt than it would be here where there is a lot of green everywhere.
This is all just a guess and I might be wrong again."
