Two…

August 17, 2008 | Filed Under Apartment Buildings, Neighborhoods, Towers, Water Tower, West Side | 11 Comments

… water towers.  Normally, you’d only see one water tower on a building.  This is a little different because there are two.  I’m not sure why but guess that the towers serve a large building.  I wasn’t sure how the towers worked but Mari and Joy graciously explained in the comments section of the post here.

Happy Monday, all!

… Tower!

Another one of the water towers that decorate the top of the old buildings in New York City.

Enclosed Water Tower

This is a newer building and as a result the water tower is enclosed with this glass type material.  I prefer the older water towers, as seen here.

The Water Tower

You’ll find water towers, like the one shown in the background of this photo, atop many older buildings in the city.  I’m not sure exactly how they work, though.  Does anyone who knows about it, care to explain to me?
