These are traditional Chinese performers who were passing out fliers to their performances in the street.  They brightened up the street.

In less than 24 hours, Times Square will be even more crowded than usual as people gather to celebrate New Year’s  Day and watch the famous ball drop.  I’ll be watching from the comfort of my bed  (If I don’t fall asleep first, that is).     ;-)
