Haiku Festival – May 11, 2009

How happy children look,

joined from all over the world

on a school mural.

Here is another attempt to compose a Haiku, the Japanese poetry form that in English consists of five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second and five syllables in the third line (You can read my first attempt here.).  I took the photo of this mural on a school building in Harlem.

Well, bad as they may be, my Haiku efforts are all in good fun, since this is my contribution to the Haiku Festival hosted by Tracy of Pink Purl and Elizabeth of About New York.

To see an awesome lineup of Haiku entries, worldwide, check out Tracy and Elizabeth’s blogs.  Thanks for putting this festival together, ladies.  It was fun trying to write a Haiku and I learned a lot.  For example, from Chie, I learned that Haiku was called Hokku.  I like to learn new things.

By the way, Christine of Christine Mercer-Vernon Fine Art is collecting opinions on how art titles affect the way a person may feel about the art work.  She’d like to have your opinion, so stop over there and give it to her.   It’s quick and painless.    ;-)
