This is a portion of a mosaic wall at the Lincoln Center Subway Station.  The walls were renovated in 2004 and decorated with mosaics designed by New York artist, Nancy Spero

This station is near Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts.

Happy Monday, everyone!  Have a great new week!

This isn’t the best-looking subway station.  Looks like it needs a paint job.

.. but it’s normally used by a lot of people.

At the time I took this photo, it was pretty quiet on the platform.  This lady was the only one waiting for the train.

Above-ground subway stations are especially nice during the summer, because normally the underground ones are very very hot.

Ahh!  The lady’s train arrives.

So long!

Well, some subway stations are actually located above-ground, like this one.

A subway musician playing a traditional instrument.

When he saw me taking his photo, he continued playing and made sure to give me a nice smile.

No Service

There’s nothing more annoying than finding that the train won’t stop at the station that you plan on using.  This week, it happened to me at least three times.   I had to get out of the station and take a crowded bus the rest of the way to my destination or take another train past my desired stop and then get on another train to bring me back.  So annoying.  Despite the convenience, the city keeps moving.  ;-)

Ed. Note:  Kudos to those who noticed the billboard sign, Royal Pains, in the background (You guys don’t miss a thing.).  It accurately describes a commuter’s feelings when the subway isn’t running 100%.  I did notice it but didn’t have a chance to comment on it.  This post should be entitled, Royal Pains.   Very appropriate.  ;-)
