Another Squirrel Nest

There are a lot of trees in the city that are still full of leaves and are still changing colors. Here’s one of the few trees I’ve seen that has lost all its leaves. Right on the top is a squirrel nest, like the one that I mentioned about in the post below.

At least, for squirrels, this is home.
I learned from blogger Abraham Lincoln that because there’s a shortage of old trees with holes in them, many squirrels are forced to spend the winter in summer leaf nests like the one shown in the photo. Hole nests are better than the leaf nests because ice and snow will not knock it down. Otherwise, the squirrels will have no place to survive.
What a challenging life for squirrels, especially around winter time.

This starling sat on a rooftop watching me. I almost missed him until he sang out to me, causing me to look up and notice him. Handsome fella, I think.
