Lights

Happy New Year, everyone!

I’ve taken and posted photos, before, of the illuminated trees along College Walk on the Columbia University Campus.

However, I never get tired of taking photos and posting them.

So here are new photos, again.   ;-)

Lights are kept on the trees from December to February 28.

There’s even a tree-lightening ceremony when the trees are first lit.

From the looks of this, the person who put up the lights on this tree did a very through job.

Merry Christmas!

I admired the lights, as I passed this church.

I’ve always seen the wreaths hanging over the doors in the previous years.

However, I don’t recall if they had the lights shining above.

As I was taking a photo, to my surprise, the lights turned pink….

… Then it turned white…

… Then it turned green.

Ohh!  Ahh!

I’ve never seen that on a church before.   What a treat!

Why was I the only one to stop to enjoy this colorful light show?  Everyone else walked by quickly.

Oh!  The light turned purple, too!

How colorful, special, magical!

Merry Christmas to all!  Have a colorful, special, magical celebration!

Welcome to 125th Street

November 28, 2011 | Filed Under Harlem, Holiday Lights | 2 Comments

Everywhere around the city, holiday decorations are up.   It is no different on 125th street in Harlem.

This street takes you across town from the west to the east side and vice versa.

At Night

The Columbia University Campus entrance to College Walk.  The lights go up around the holidays and stay up for the entire winter season.  I’m not sure but I believe they take down the lights when spring arrives.

Ed. Note:  The trees, lining College Walk in front of Kent and Hamilton Halls on the east end and Dodge and Journalism Halls on the west, are illuminated in early December until February 28.

Motion Thursday

Holiday lights on Broadway as the cars speed by.

I’m still waiting for my new computer.  I recently ordered one and it should arrive soon.  In the meantime, I’m on a borrowed computer and found these older photos, which I’d fortunately saved on my Flickr page last year.  I was trying to take photos of the decorative holiday lights.  Instead, I kept getting photos of the fast-moving cars that passed by.  Talk about motion!

So, this is my entry for MOTION THURSDAY, hosted by Mary of 2 Frames per Second.

You can see other MOTION THURSDAY photos here.  Come join in on the fun.  Stop by and learn how to participate.  It’s really easy.

Have a great day, everyone.
