I See Christmas Trees

Christmas tree stall 1: As you can imagine it’s that time of the year where real Christmas trees are waiting on the sidewalks, everywhere, for someone to buy them. I passed by three different places selling the trees.

Christmas tree stall 2: I’ve never had a real Christmas tree before. All the trees we’ve had have been artificial, but I love the scent of a real Christmas tree.

You can get almost anything delivered to your home, in the city — and that includes Christmas trees.

Perhaps, next year, I’ll buy a real tree… and have them deliver.

Christmas tree stall 3: I understand that best way to buy a cheap tree is to buy it on Christmas eve.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

This woman crossing the street with her Christmas tree caught my eye. She had a nice firm grip on her tree and walked very fast. I like the size of her tree. Not too big and not too small. Just the right size that she can pick it up with ease and walk home with it.

I’d love to see how she decorated her tree. I’m sure it looks nice. I haven’t decorated a Christmas tree in a few years. This year, I had some energy and time to do so. The lights have a stupid music box, which turns on immediately when you plug the lights on. I cut one of the wires, hoping it was the one that controlled the music, but when I did that, the music AND the lights stopped working. Oh well, depending on what others at home want, I may have to buy new lights to decorate the tree. Frankly, I’m okay without the lights.

Ed. Note: I’m sure it goes without saying: Please don’t tell my family members that I cut the wire to the Christmas tree lights. I simply told them the lights aren’t working. What? I just didn’t tell them the reason the lights are not working. And yes, Mari, I’d better not get a job as a bomb disarmer. Obviously, I’d cut the wrong wire. *sigh*
Holiday Decorations

I like the holiday decorations on the townhouses in this Chelsea neighborhood. Simple wreaths suffice.
On this street, you won’t find over-the-top light decorations, flashing neon lights, lit-up Santa Claus and reindeers, etc.
I saw a news story recently where a woman’s neighbors complained about her holiday decorations, especially the electric
peacock, which she placed outside her home. I’m not sure if she took it down.

I took these photos on November 5, 2010. The workers were busy putting up the holiday lights on the trees. The lights are now up. I have passed by a few times at night but wasn’t able to stop and take a photo. My hands were full of grocery bags and the weather was just too damn cold. Here’s a photo I took of the area lit up in lights. last year.
Happy Monday!
