Happy Birthday Rachel

I believe I’ve posted a photo of this bench with the engraved name plate before.
It is dedicated to someone named Rachel.
Oh, yes, here it is (autumn 2009).
And now, here it is Winter 2011.
Today, there is no more snow. We have spring-like weather. Yay!

Shadow Shot Sunday: The Lonely Bench

Just a bench and its shadow
Stop by HEY HARRIET to see shadow shots by others.

Ed. Note: Thank you, Magical Mystical Teacher for the poem!
Lament of the Lonely Bench
Nobody wants to sit on me,
Nobody cares at all, you see;
Nobody sings sweet songs to me—
I sit in the shade alone.
If I were bright and fiery red
Someone would come and lay his head
On my lap and make it his bed—
But here I sit all alone.
Zephyrs of spring, I long for you
To melt the snow and make things new
Bringing a honeybee or two,
So I won’t sit all alone.

All you have to do is dust off the snow a bit and the bench is all yours.

Here is another park bench that caught my eye because of the engraved name plate. The bench is located in a park across from The Riverside Church. John Poole sounds like a special man.
Happy Monday, everyone!
