Park Avenue Armory

Built between 1877 and 1881, the Park Avenue Armory, also known as the Seventh Regiment Armory, is a U.S. National Historic Landmark.  It is use for cultural, social, athletic, political, military events.  It was once used as a homeless shelter. The interior is detailed with ornamental woodwork, marble and stained glass.   The building contains offices, a library, a reception room, and a veterans room.

Camera! Lights! Action!

Movies are filmed all the time in the city.  As I walked past Park Avenue, I saw these movie trailers.  I don’t think there were any actors there yet because everything was quiet and empty.  I think they just recently parked the trailers there.  Normally you see the staff milling around, people coming and going, etc…  No one was in sight this day.

Asia Society

The Asia Society is an organization that provides information and education on over 30 Asian countries to the public.  Founded in 1956 by a Rockefeller family member, the Asia Society gives art exhibits, performances, films, lectures, seminars, conferences, publications, media assistance and school materials.  There are several centers worldwide.  The headquarters is situated in New York City.

Working Hard

On Park Avenue, these men were hard at work.  They furiously scraped the window bars and paid no attention to what went on around them.  I couldn’t resist taking a photo.
