Brownstones

I stopped to admire the molding/designs/details (what do you call this?) on some brownstones that I bypass all the time but never really paid attention to, before. Is this for decorative purposes or something more important, I wonder?

Interesting moldings.

I’ll have to pay attention to the other brownstones in the neighborhood, next time.

There are a lot of richly-designed buildings in Harlem with wonderful details.

You’ll notice them when you take a moment to look up.

You don’t see details like this on buildings anymore.

Lunchtime
July 18, 2011 | Filed Under Architectural Details, Gargoyles | 8 Comments

Two gargoyles sat on their perch. It was lunchtime and their stomachs started to rumble.
"What do you feel like eating?" asked the one on the left.
"Mmm, I don’t know," replied the one on the right.

"I know! Let’s order from the Vietnamese restaurant. I feel like some La Sa Tom. Their curry shrimp soup with coconut milk, rice vermicelli and bean sprouts is so tasty," said the gargoyle on the left.

"Why don’t we have Vietnamese for dinner?" suggested the gargoyle on the right. "Let’s order pizza with sausage, pepperoni, broccoli and mushrooms, instead. My treat! Deal?"
The other agreed, "Deal! Pizza it is!!"
