Portrait painting by Joanne Giesbrecht of Thistledown Arts

Thanks to everyone who left me comforting messages here and emailed me privately when my dog, Cadeau, died.  I appreciate your kindness very much.

Thanks, Joanne of Thistledown Arts for the wonderful surprise portrait painting of Cadeau.  My family and I love it and it makes me smile every time I look at it.   Thanks so much.

I love the portrait of your dog. How cute he/she was! Just adorable! I can imagine how sad you and your family were when you lost him/her. My dog died about 25 years ago and since then I never wanted another one. I just don’t want to feel the same pain and grief when it comes the time for them to go.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your good friend. Back when we were both in college, my then boyfriend, now DH, cried over the loss of his dog. I was young and stupid, and having grown up in the city and never having had a pet, didn’t understand and so minimized his loss. Many years later, when I did finally get it, I apologized. Shows his compassion that he didn’t give me the boot there and then. I couldn’t stop crying when our pet bunny died.

  26. Hi Paz, I didn’t see your original post but I wanted to say how very sad I am for you that you lost Cadeau. I followed the link back to when you first got her and it is a very heart-warming story. Also a very beautiful portrait that you have of her (a stunning photograph also). I had my own little Cadeau who has been gone for several years now, but I still have photos of her everywhere. She will always be in my heart as I know Cadeau will be in yours.

  27. Lovely flowers! A nice picture of Cadeau, too, I hope.

  28. Thanks, Denise and DaviMack! Much appreciated.

  29. My favorite pet of all time was a Border Collie mix named Panda. She put up with all kinds of nonsense from my brother and me and loved chasing squirrels in the park. But her favorite thing of all was riding in the basket of my balloon tire bicycle. Sorry for your loss, but I know you’ve got loads of great memories.

  30. Thanks Terry B for sharing your story about Panda. I really enjoyed reading. Thanks for your condolences about my dog, Cadeau.

    Paz
