Today’s Flowers
November 30, 2008 | Filed Under Flowers, Photo Blogging Theme Day, Today's Flowers

Sunday morning, I needed some groceries but was too tired (okay, too lazy) to go food shopping. So, I called my corner grocery store with a list and had them deliver my order. I do that a lot. I’m glad it’s a service that the store provides.
Not long after placing my order, the delivery guy showed up at my doorstep with my groceries. He had two large bags in one hand and a beautiful bouquet of flowers in the other.
When I saw the flowers, I thought that he must have another delivery to make, so I hurried to pay him, so that he could go on his way. As I looked at my bill, he extended his hand to me with the flowers and said, "These flowers are for you."
"These flowers are for you," he had to repeat himself because it took me a few seconds to register the flowers.
I took a closer look at the flowers — red roses, white carnations, daisies, orange lilies and some other flowers whose name I don’t know. It made a lovely bouquet. Flowers for me? Needless to say, I was very surprised. Pleasantly surprised. Totally surprised.
Well, I’m too lazy to take a photo of the bouquet but I thought I’d share the story with you. Some of the nicest gifts are the unexpected ones.
Instead of a photo of the bouquet, here’s a photo a flower that I took over the summer in the park. As usual, I have no idea what it is. Anyone know its name?
Here’s my entry for TODAY’S FLOWERS. Check it out for other flower photo entries from around the world.

Such a lovely surprise! Was there a special occasion or *just* the store or possibly the delivery guy being friendly? /Curious Swede:)
That is a very pretty flower, should post the bouquet now you have us all interested.
How nice! Did they make you pay for them or was it a gift? Flowers can totally make one’s day!

Oh my, you have an admirer.
Lucky girl!
Sounds like you had a nice day of flowers! Your photo shows a tall pretty something or another. Love that cool shade of purple.

Yes, sometimes the unexpected gifts are the best!
Beautiful contrast in this very nice flower photo, Paz.
I don’t know the name but it is lovely and you captured it extremely well! I love the lighting in this.
What a wonderful grocery - surprise flowers - cool.
what a great story Paz! so sweet. I wish i knew the name, but the flower is lovely anyway!
Lucky you, what a great surprise. A very pretty flower, could be one of the Salvias or Sages.
Beautiful surprise the bouquet of flowers that you got. It is a pity that you were too lazy to take its photo. That is another surprise for me.:-) I am sorry I don’t know the name of the flower that you posted for today but it is lovely, anyway.
I have no idea what the flowers are called, but I have to tell you that I loved the story that goes with them. First of all, how lucky for you that you have the ability to call a grocer and have your groceries delivered! Wow….
Second of all, that was very sweet of someone to send you flowers, you’ll have to take a photo of the whole bouquet.
I hope you are doing okay. I’ve been thinking of you.
Love surprises like that! I’m a real flowers and choclate surprise girl with a slight leaning to chocolate! (Well! Maybe a big leaning!)
Adore your shot of this flower! It almost looks like a delicate hollyhock! But I’m not really sure!
What a great story and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. A timely reminder too to reciprocate…I’m on it!
Lovely photo for today…hope your week is good.
Dear Paz!
What a lovely surprise;)
Flowers from a secret admirer?

I love your picture for Today’s Flower.
It is one of the Salvia flowers you show here.
Salvia is a genus of plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae.
This genus includes approximately 700 to 900 species of shrubs, herbaceous perennials, and annuals with almost world-wide distribution.
Take your pick;)
Have wonderful week.

Amazing and beautiful the offer of bouquet.
It entertained Paz!
I wish such beautiful surprises you accept all in December! Good month!
What a lovely story, Paz! I agree with you, some of the nicest gifts are the unexpected ones. Loved your so delicate flower!
Kisses.

What a beautiful happening, Paz…Some of the sweetest gifts are the surprise one…Enjoy! Happy Days, my friend ((HUGS))
Paz: Neat story and great capture of the Salvia. It is a neat bush with a lot of tiny blooms.
Beautiful flower,
love the light surrounding it!
You sure you don’t want to go and take a picture of the flowers from the corner grocery store? Very sweet gesture, no wonder you like to order there! I know a small store at Lexington Ave., they always have baskets with stuff ready to be delivered.
But … were the flowers from the guy, or from the store … or what?
I’m glad that you have someone to deliver groceries. We’ve been having ours delivered, now, since we moved to Scotland. I guess we could move to New York, then, couldn’t we?
Beautiful story and nice shot
Thanks for stopping by, all!
The flowers were from the delivery guy. Not as an admirer as mentioned in the comments, just a nice person doing something nice.
Paz
Wow, what a wonderful story. I wish there were groceries which delivered in Lansing. No such luck!!!
But the flowers, what a lovely gift. Appreciation, random kindness. And in NYC, which gets so much bad press. There are kind humans everywhere.

Hi, Paz, I am going to guess that the flowers belong to a coleus. Another member of the mint family. What colour were the leaves, if you remember? Coleus have brightly coloured, variegated leaves. Salvias and most other mints have green leaves.
Nice flower, don’t know its name. BTW guess the bouquet was more colourful.
What a wonderful surprise. Enjoy the flowers!
Unexpected flowers on a Sunday morning …
What more can a girl want! They must made your day, I’m sure of that!
