The Mimosa Award

February 6, 2009 | Filed Under Apartment Buildings, Architectural Details, Architecture, Awards, Mimosa Award | 9 Comments

Found on an apartment building in Harlem.  Oh, such details!

Mary the Teach of Work of the Poet created the  MIMOSA AWARD and has passed in on to me.  According to her post, she "decided to give it to some very wonderful people who epitomize hope and reassurance every day in their blogs. According to Pantone "The color yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance. Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation."

Oh, wow!  Mary, you’re giving this big ole award to little ole me?  Shucks, I’m honored.  Thank you very much!

The Phantom of Harlem and the Van Gogh’s Ear Award

January 14, 2009 | Filed Under Awards, Harlem, Neighborhoods, Seasons, Snow, Statues, West Side, Winter | 23 Comments

This snow-covered statue reminded me of the Phantom of Opera.  ;-)   What do you think?

I took this photo the last time it snowed, a few days ago.  We are expecting snow, AGAIN, this Thursday.  I hope it doesn’t last long.

Thanks to Jientje, of Heaven in Belgium, for passing along the Van Gogh’s Ear award to me.

Roger of Idaho Photo created this award.  You can read about the inspiration for this award here.  Thanks so much, Roger, for that good laugh.  I needed it and I’ll take your advice, along with the award.

Roger ends his award post with the words, "Always remember you’re unique.  Just like everyone else."

LOL!  I pass this message, along with the Van Gogh’s Ear award, to those of you who have stopped by here.   Please feel free to copy it and post on your blog.  You can find a smaller image of the award below.

Flowers in the Winter

Apartment window on the East Side.

I took this photo in December  (2008) when I passed by in a car.  I thought that the window and flowers compliment each other.  I was surprised to still see flowers outside at that time of the year.   Now that it’s January, I doubt that it’s still there.

Thank you, Amy for passing along this award to me some time ago.

And now, I’d like to pass this One Lovely blog Award to… YOU.  Yes, you, dear reader.  If you’re reading this post right now,  I do mean you.

Street Bargains on Fifth Avenue

December 17, 2008 | Filed Under Avenues, Awards, City Streets and Sidewalks, East Side, Fifth Avenue, Neighborhoods, Unique Award | 20 Comments

Even on expensive Fifth Avenue, one can find a bargain — on the street, that is.   The sign reads, "Designer Jewelry – Only $5".  I was too cold to walk up and investigate the jewlery but these women around the table seemed mesmerized with their finds.

Thank you, Kostas of BeeFotoBlog for giving me the Unique award!  Oh, wow!  I’m feeling unique and very special now.

I pass this award to the bloggers reading this post, right now.  Yes, you!  I appreciate your unique blogs each time I visit.
