I only just realized that the manhole covers have different designs.
Here are a few I came across within a short distance of each other.

I never noticed the differences – any idea what they mean?
Hi John: Hmm… Interesting question. I’m not sure that the different designs mean anything, except that the designs evolve.
Perhaps, there is a meaning. Who knows. I’ll have to look it up.
