LOOKING FOR GOODIES
Back and forth the walkers walk,
Up and down the leafless block,
Peering underneath the trees,
Hoping that no sudden breeze
Sweeps away the evidence
Of fair autumn’s providence:
Fruits and nuts and other treats,
Most delectable of sweets!
Walkers walking to and fro,
Thinking to themselves, I trow,
That they have been much too slow—
Where did all the goodies go?
