Taking Care of Trees in the City

September 9, 2010 | Filed Under Trees

One day, you’re walking down the street minding your own business.  You happen to look up and spot in a tree, not a sparrow, or a pigeon or some other kind of bird, but a man.  A very big man, standing precariously on a small limb that looks like it might snap at any minute if he’s not careful.   You stop to watch him for a few minutes and he seems to know what he’s doing and he’s careful about it.  On the ground is another man, watching closely and tightly holding a rope attached to the man above.   You look around and notice that no one else stopped to observe the men.   Everyone is on the go.  It’s as if a man, high above, in a tree is a normal, daily sight.   You shake your head, shrug your shoulders, pull out your camera, snap a few pics and move on.

  1. It’s because … you’re observant, looking at the world, taking pictures of things. Being a photographer changes the way you see things, and observe things. The rest … just wander through, and wonder why you saw something they didn’t.

  2. We recently had tree-people cutting our trees. And it was scary watching them hanging around the tree tops. But they seemed to know what they were doing…Great shots!
