Ruby Tuesday: Red Truck Passing By
September 14, 2010 | Filed Under Photo Blogging Theme Day, Ruby Tuesday | 14 Comments

It’s Ruby Tuesday again. Boy! The days certainly go by fast. Seems like I just posted a photo featuring the color red yesterday. But that actually happened last week.
I couldn’t figure out which photo to post. I like the top photo with the pedestrians crossing the street. I also like the photo below with the two women sitting in the Broadway Malls, enjoying their lunch under the sun. As you see, both photos star the red truck in the background. Which photo do you prefer?

Taking Care of Trees in the City
September 9, 2010 | Filed Under Trees | 12 Comments

One day, you’re walking down the street minding your own business. You happen to look up and spot in a tree, not a sparrow, or a pigeon or some other kind of bird, but a man. A very big man, standing precariously on a small limb that looks like it might snap at any minute if he’s not careful. You stop to watch him for a few minutes and he seems to know what he’s doing and he’s careful about it. On the ground is another man, watching closely and tightly holding a rope attached to the man above. You look around and notice that no one else stopped to observe the men. Everyone is on the go. It’s as if a man, high above, in a tree is a normal, daily sight. You shake your head, shrug your shoulders, pull out your camera, snap a few pics and move on.

Hats
September 8, 2010 | Filed Under City Streets and Sidewalks, Hats, New Yorkers | 7 Comments

When I was younger, I never cared about protecting myself against the elements of the weather. In the wintertime, I never wore hats or gloves (Sometimes, I’d use ear muffs and fingerless gloves but that was rare.). During the summertime, I never wore a hat or used my sunglasses. Well, that’s all changed the older I’ve become. I’ve found that I definitely need those articles of clothing for protection. Today, when it’s sunny, you’ll find me using my hat, among other things.
Out and about, the other day, I spotted different New Yorkers wearing their hats. Nothing fancy but a smart move on their part to protect themselves against the powerful rays of the sun. It’s been so hot and sunny, you could probably fry an egg on the sidewalk (and your head).
Do you wear hats and use other protective items on sunny days?
