No Service

May 28, 2010 | Filed Under New York Subway Life, Subway Stations

There’s nothing more annoying than finding that the train won’t stop at the station that you plan on using.  This week, it happened to me at least three times.   I had to get out of the station and take a crowded bus the rest of the way to my destination or take another train past my desired stop and then get on another train to bring me back.  So annoying.  Despite the convenience, the city keeps moving.  ;-)

Ed. Note:  Kudos to those who noticed the billboard sign, Royal Pains, in the background (You guys don’t miss a thing.).  It accurately describes a commuter’s feelings when the subway isn’t running 100%.  I did notice it but didn’t have a chance to comment on it.  This post should be entitled, Royal Pains.   Very appropriate.  ;-)

  1. All of that is a new learning curve and takes some time to get used to I would imagine. I can’t imagine going down in a tunnel to get from point a to point b in the first place but since it is as common as walking is to some people I have to accept it at normal behavior.

  2. I guess there has to be maintenance from time to time…at least I hope that’s why they’re closed!

  6. Did you realize that “Royal Pains” sign was right above the trains notice when you shot the photo? A wonderful chance coincidence I’d say. The downtown trains seem to be royal pains…

  10. This has been happening on weekends in my area of Brooklyn, too, Paz. Lots of track maintanence. I’m sure it has to be done but it is very annoying ot be delayed and rerouted all the time.
