No, Not Dead
April 24, 2010 | Filed Under Cats, City Streets and Sidewalks | 3 Comments

This cat belongs to a neighborhood grocery store. On this day, the weather was sunny and warm. I suppose he she decided to take advantage of the good weather and take a nap outside. At first I thought I’d spotted a dead cat but when I stopped to observe him her closely, I could see his her chest rise calmly with every breath. He She was certainly enjoying his her nap under the sun. All the city noises, passing motorists, pedestrians and this photographer did not disturb him her.
Happy Saturday, all!

Ed. Note: Thanks, Pia for that correction that the cat is most likely a "she".

Pink Hearts

These delicate flowers beckoned me when I spotted them not far from the sidewalk. Almost hidden from sight, I had to get on my knees in order to get a good shot of them. They are examples of some of the hidden jewels that you will find in the concrete jungle, if you take the time. The treasures seem hidden but they’re actually right under your nose if you look closely. I call them ‘Pink Hearts’ but anyone tell me the real name?
Happy Friday!

Ed. Note: Thanks for letting me know this is called Bleeding Hearts.
Motion Thursday: Hungry Goldfish

This is a small portion of garden at the NYU Medical Center. I think it’s a great idea to have a garden in the hospital for the patients, their families and staff members to enjoy. It gives everyone a chance to get some fresh air and take a break from the bleary hospital setting.
This garden has lots of plants, flowers and birds like parrots, mourning doves and sparrows. It also has a nice pond filled with fish that swim away very quickly, especially when they realize that I’m not going to feed them.

The only member of the garden community that moves slowly is this turtle…

He inched his way to the branch and then reached up and stuck his face on it. Hmmm…
MOTION THURSDAY. Join in on the fun if you have a photo of a subject in motion.

School Trip!

These school kids looked like they were on their way to or from a school trip. I could feel their excitement as they talked to each other and walked past me.
