The shadow of a sparrow sitting on some branches.

Oh!  By the way, in the comments section last Sunday, Sharon of Sweet Repose wondered where all the snow was in the city.  None of my photos showed any snow.  Ha!  Well, last week, we’d had a little bit of snow but luckily, it did not stick.  For this weekend, the weather forecasters said we’d have a lot of snow by Saturday.  All day Friday, they cried out that a big snow storm was coming.  Saturday morning, when I took my dog out for her walk, there was hardly any snow — just a light sugar sprinkling of snow in sight.  It melted very quickly.  Yay!  I’m very a happy person.

How many sparrows and their shadows can you spot in this photo?

Ed. Note:  There are five sparrow and three shadows.   ;-)

  5. I think I see two sparrow shadows! Definitely two pigeons. What a poser…
Great bird pictures – now I don’t think of them without recalling they inherited dinosaur characteristics – like the claws in your larger shots. (See last week’s SSS dinosaur photo story).

  6. Cool idea, great shadow! Looks as if there are 6 sparrows but only see one clear shadow!

Yay lucky you the snowstorm didn’t come. I’ve seen pictures of all the snow that fell in Washington and must say I don’t envy them at all!

    Enjoy your week!

  9. Good capture. Looking at the second photo I see that the shadow is bigger than the bird.
Thanks for stopping by to view my shadows.

  10. The shadow of the sparrow adds life to the barren tree ow Winter. The tree is merely dormant, but without leaves is appears lifeless. So the warm-blooded bird adds a warmth to the tree – I would imagine that the birdie awaits for Spring, too!

  12. What a wonderful capture – lovely shadow shot! You’re lucky to have missed out on this latest storm. Here in Virginia, we’ve been buried for days now.

Cool shadow shots. Before I read what you said I thought out loud,”What is that blob shadow in the middle?” Ha ha.Then I read, then saw that it was a sparrow. The bottom shot is my favorite. The gray stonewall background puts a nice texture to the shot.
Let’s see, 3 birds, 2 shadows. Did I win something?! Happy SSS!

  19. A sweet sparrow shadow. I had to look really hard to spot all five sparrows in the second photo. They’re tricky little birds! Have a great week Paz!
