On the Corner
February 3, 2010 | Filed Under City Streets and Sidewalks

I bought my favorite pair of gloves (they were fingerless but had a hood to cover the entire hand if I wanted) from the street vendor here. Unfortunately, last year, I lost one of the gloves when it fell out of my pocket. I went back to where I thought I’d lost it but never found it. I stopped by the street cart, the other day, to see if the vendor had the same pair of gloves. He had the same style but a different color. Not what I wanted. I didn’t buy anything from him that day but I’m thinking that I’ll probably go back and buy some other gloves that I saw and maybe a new hat, too. I like these street vendors and their products. You can buy almost anything on the streets of New York.

A wonderful photo, my friend. The vibrant colors of the vendor’s cart surrounded by gray. Perfect!
That splash of color makes the whole scene pop. I like it.
Street vendors always fascinate me. NYC is famous for them of course. – I love the traffic cone sitting on top of the van too.
I’m wearing a scarf today that I bought on a street corner near Lincoln Center at least 15 years ago!
very colorful
he sure has a lot of stock
those gloves sound great!!
I love the burst of colors in the photo amidst the stark grays and whites. I miss NYC terribly.
I have a pair of gloves like those but tsaking that cover off and on bothered me… Street vendors make buying things easy, Paz!
Even the van is wearing a Dr Seuss hat!
Lovely splash of color in the greyness of the street. Brava Paz, hope you find some nice new gloves (why not mismatch the colors?)
Ciao

I am manhattan born and raised (UES) and live in orange county ny now. I love your site! Thank you for the wonder pictures of my beloved hometown.
Love this and yes I’ve bought a few things off the street vendors. I love NY!!
I love that turquoise scarf!
Doesn’t look that freezing…
I was wondering about that. I saw the book stand in one of the previous posts and now this. We’d have to go to a weekly market to find a stand like this one. I gave a pair of gloves like you described to my sister for her Christmas. I bought them in Chicago when I was there. But I also lost one of my own gloves a couple of weeks ago. It made me sad, I loved that pair of gloves.
Welcome, Mary Louise and all newcomers here.
Thanks for stopping by all!

How COLORFUL against the winter cityscape!
