Chasing the Moon
December 5, 2009 | Filed Under New York Moon

I’ve been chasing the moon the past few days. Early Tuesday morning, I was walking my dog when we saw a ginormous moon, very low to the earth. I felt as if I could walk right up to the moon and touch it. It was gigantic! Enormous! It seemed so close to me. Very close. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera with me. I cut the walk short to run back home and get my camera. I know my poor dog wondered why we turned around so soon.
When I came back outside, with camera in hand, the moon had disappeared. Disappointment! The next three days — Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — I made sure to take my camera out with me when I walked the dog. I chased the moon from 6 to 7 in the morning — high above the buildings, behind the buildings, in between the streets, over the Hudson River, in between the bare tree branches. I finally got a few shots.
I never did see that ginormous moon again but next time, I’ll be prepared when it makes another appearance.

Well, I was out and abut with Buster and the moon was a giant dot on the top of the ‘i’ of the Empire State Building but then it MOVED and went higher
but it was such fun chasing it round.
This makes me wish I had a better camera…….
hugs
Bravo Paz! Well done! both shots are beautiful.
That second shot is perfect. I so love an early morning moon.
Yes, I chased the moon, too! As in Moon Walk. Wednesday, there was no citing for me. Then Thursday, I guess it was another clear night but I couldn’t
pick up the landscape of the moon. Nice captures Paz!
Paz, your moon photos are beautiful! My grandson was born a year ago and there was one of the biggest and brightest moons I ever saw the night of his birth! I’ll never forget it.
Thanks for your sweet comments on my Sants Claus photo. My family was just struggling to survive back then so that visit to Santa was a big deal, as you can imagine
Chasing the moon paid off, Paz. You caught it perfectly! (I hope you don’t think me a copy cat [I posted the single leaf after you posted yours, but had the photo in my camera a week earlier], because I have two full moon photos to post but didn’t have the time to put them up when the moon was full. I’ll be posting them this week and I’ll link to these!) Have a great week!
lovely, lovely moon shots! i hope you did wish something good upon it too. and that it’ll teach you not to leave home without camera…;)
Cool, but I hope you weren’t howling at the moon, with all this werewolf stuff in the media…………….
How about some music to go with your photo…..punk (the music;)

I remember those magic evenings when the moon seemed to touch the earth, back in my home in DC! There must be some special atmospheric conditions and a full moon, I suppose.
I love the images you captured, especially the first, so mysterious.
Hi Elizabeth: I would have loved to see a photo of the Empire State with the moon over it. You Do have a good camera. Tell Buster I said, “Hey!”
Hi Lily: Thank you!
Hi Bobbie: Thanks!
Hi Margaret: Thanks!
Hi Pat: What a special night on the time of your grandson’s birth.
Hi Christine: If anyone is copying anyone, it’s me copying you.
Anyway, if we have similar photos it’s because great minds think alike.
) Can’t wait to see ALL your photos when you post them.
Hi Pia: At that time of the morning, I’m sleepy and just concentrating on walking my dog more than taking photos — till I see a gorgeous moon.
Hey ET: LOL! I was tempted to howl but managed to control myself. Thanks for the music link. I never heard that song before. Cool.
Hi Merisi: Yes, yes, you know the type of moon that I’m talking about!
Thanks for your kind comment.
Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments.
Paz
I’ve seen the moon so huge…..unforgetable……. beautiful shots Paz
Lovely shots. My grandson who is very keen on the moon right now, would be delighted. Love that first shot. Love them both actually. I captured a couple of the moon last week as I woke and looked out the window…not as pretty as yours though Paz.
I know what you mean about chasing the moon. I did the same thing one night last week leaving Provincetown. Had to stop and jump out of the car every few minutes to snap another photo. I posted them at marewheeee.blogspot.com if you wanna look.
Love your photos, Paz.
Both shots are wonderful! Isn’t that always the way – the camera is somewhere else when we really need it.
