Ruby Tuesday

October 26, 2009 | Filed Under Photo Blogging Theme Day, Red, Ruby Tuesday

This red-leaf tree caught my eye.  Just in time for Ruby Tuesday, when the photo theme of the day is something red.  Check out WORK OF THE POET for more Ruby Tuesday photos.

  2. The prettiest tree in the City you have captured. It stands out in that tree boulevard of green. Nicely captured, those of us who don’t frequent NYC think of grand buildings – but not of nature. Yet it abounds, especially in the wonderful Olmstead creations of Central Park and Prospect Park. Beauty abounds!

  8. Autumn red is the best. But it shows off best against dark green or gold. This is a really lovely little tree.

  10. What a lovely picture of a Acer rubrum (Red Maple, also known as Swamp or Soft Maple). The Red Maple is one of the most common and widespread deciduous trees of eastern North America.

  14. Beautiful. I love the way the Universe paints it’s trees and in an urban setting they are just that much more special to the eye.

  20. Yes it is a hard maple that turns red in the fall. Some people call them sugar maples around here. But it could be a real red maple and those have red leaves all summer. I am not sure what color they turn in the fall.

Yes, the blue jays have a throat pouch area that can hold a whole peanut unshelled and several shelled ones. Glad you got to see this bird.
