Nothing Like a Good Book
August 3, 2009 | Filed Under Broadway Malls, Chronicles of a NYC Bench, City Streets and Sidewalks, New Yorkers

There’s nothing like a good book to make you forget where you are. In this woman’s case, she’s sitting in the middle of the street (a part of the Broadway Malls), with cars whizzing by on either side of her and pedestrians crossing the street, back and forth in front of her. There’s so much action going on around but looking at the lady, one can see that she’s totally engrossed in the world of her book and mentally removed from her physical surroundings.

Great shot, Paz! Beautiful atmosphere in this image, with the woman reading and that bright yellow flower.
Oh to sit there and read like that.
Sadly my reading habits have been confined to reading in the car, in between jams, while waiting for the kids or traffic lights..so sad right?
So when are you getting a photo essay book of NYC published?
Hi Pietro: Thanks. I love that yellow flower behind her. I had a closeup shot, which I didn’t post.
Hi Carin: It’s a nice spot to read, rest or people watch, even though there’s a lot action going on around.
Hi M.Kate: LOL! I know what you mean. My reading is done on the subway and bus and cabs, when I’m in transit. Otherwise, forget about it.
Hi June: LOL!

Ah yes, I know that feeling very well!
In the middle of the city crowd she found a beautiful place to enjoy reading a book. I like this photo very much.
Great shot, Paz! I agree with you a book can make us forget where we are!
