Ruby Tuesday: The Helicopter

Last Friday, there was a lot of activity in the air with a whole bunch of helicopters — about six — hovering and circling over a spot below. This was the only red helicopter among them. I’ve never seen a red helicopter before. Have you? Turns out it was a news helicopter.
Later, on the news, I heard that someone had barricaded himself in a room or had held people hostage — something like that (I don’t pay too much attention to the news and don’t remember the details of the story.). The ordeal lasted a few hours and I think that everyone involved was fine.
So here’s my Ruby Tuesday shot (a photo showing the color red) for the week.

Wow, that’s a great close shot! You stopped him in midair!
Our emergency helicopter ambulance is red and it lands at a couple of hospitals near us all the time…so we see the STARS air ambulance chopper a lot (unfortunatly).
This is a nice shot for ruby tuesday!

this is an interesting photo Paz, really different. The blurriness creates a neat effect with the red color against the blue.

Wow! Drama in the air! I have never seen a red helicopter, news chopper or otherwise!
I’ve seen a red helicopter but only among the children’s toys when they were little boys.

Red helicopters are used in Portugal as emergency transportation.
Some are now being painted yellow and blue!

Paz, I’ve never seen a RED helicopter either. When I saw helicopters hovering in the sky a few weeks back a sign had fallen on the Whitestone Bridge… Did you see the plane in the air over Manhattan yesterday that scared the wits out of everyone? Happy Ruby Tuesday!

In Ann Arbor, Michigan, there is a hospital with a red helicopter which is used as an air ambulance. It parks on the ground outside the building so I have had a good look at it.
The one hospital in Lansing that I know uses helicopter ambulances, has a new landing pad on top of the building. I have never seen one in the air above that building, and could not see it if it were parked up there.
I am glad I have never seen the *inside* of those red ‘copters.

I think I’ve seen a red helicopter before … but it was a medical one. Not sure.
Great shot! What lens did you use? Or was it really that close that you didn’t need a huge telephoto?
I think this is the helicopter I saw today over New Rochelle, NY covering a car that crashed on to the train tracks. I have never seen it before. Does anybody know what helicopter this is?? It’s driving me crazy!
Hi Paul: When I looked at the letters on the helicopter, it was unfamiliar to me. Seems to me that it is a local news station helicopter — nothing big like ABC, NBC, CBS. If I get a chance I’ll go back and look closely at the photo.

guys,
that chopper N610TV is Air 10 from ABC in Sacremento CA. it was later retired from the market causing them to remove the News 10 Decals. it was sold back to Heli inc. and was moved to the Linden NJ Base that controlls the NY, NJ, CT, and PA markets. The red chopper in Detroit is a different Chopper N36CC, which was being used by WXYZ.
