  1. I know I’ve seen these. I want to say they’re asters but I think the petals are too short unless this is a different variety of aster.

  7. They look a lot like my asters, only lighter. Something in the asteraceae family! My mother used to take me to Riverside Park when I was a baby.

  8. They look like asters to me, too. Maybe a Frickart Aster, or wild asters.

  9. It’s an aster…but there are tons of different types of asters, often difficult to tell apart. ;-)

  10. Paz: They are a neat purple flower, they remind me of the ones I had but the leaves are quite different. They are quite lovely.

  11. They’re … pretty ones. ;)

They’re probably asters, but there may be vining kinds as well as the little single-plant kinds, and you’ve got the vining ones?

  23. We call them Michaelmas Daisies in England. I remember being very little. My Daddy had flu. I took my empty brick cart down the garden and carefully picked all the Michaelmas Daisies I could find and wheeled them back up the garden path to Mummy in the kitchen. She was not very pleased with me and I was so upset. I had picked the flower heads without stalks. Luckily, we retrieved enough flowers with stems from the back of the bush, and took the vase up to give my father some get-well flowers…

The card was red painted wood with little yellow wood wheels and it had a rope cord to pull it along with.

Thanks for provoking this trip down memory lane!
