Ruby Tuesday: Holiday Red

December 1, 2008 | Filed Under City Streets and Sidewalks, Holiday Decorations, Photo Blogging Theme Day, Ruby Tuesday

Located on Fifth Avenue, the watch and jewelry store, Cartier, is wrapped in a nice red bow.

Flags in front of the store have holiday greetings.

A crowd gathers in front of the Christmas window display.  What attracts them to the window?

A display of bright red moving boxes.  As each box moves towards the window, it opens and exposes a beautiful piece of jewelry.  The crowd gasps and "oohs!" and "aahs!"  Is it too late to send Santa an updated Christmas list.  Is it too late to let him know that  I’ve added a piece of Cartier jewelry or a watch to my list?

Check out WORK OF THE POET to see other photos with touches of red.

Paz

I don’t know any Santa who will agree.

    Lovely exhibition though.

  9. Leave it to Cartier to do something tasteful yet spectacular. Brilliant marketing in that store window, keeping people glued to those boxes to see what’s next. Thanks so much for sharing these photos!

  18. I loved this post. Red is my favorite color and anything red just makes me happy and giddy!! I suppose that’s why Christmas is my favorite holiday, and why I spend a small fortune every time I go into a Target.

  20. The red ribbon around the building is fantastic! And the moving red boxes is such a creative idea! Thanks for sharing those pictures with us, Paz. It wouldn’t be the same to just “tell” us about them – seeing them is just so much better!

  21. Paz,
    I thought Cartier made sales!
They are “generous” with decoration, at least.

It’s a wonderful post. I would almost like to enter in that shop.

Thanks to share your Christmas present, Paz.

  34. NYC is looking mighty nice in red. NO! It’s definitely not to late to tell Santa that you’d like something from Cartier! Whether he’s listening or not is a totally different problem, though. Best of luck!

  38. Love that big red bow on the house. We’ve had something similar on one of our depertment stores previous years, such a nice, “simple” way to decorate I think. And the window display isn’t half bad either I suppose…;)
