Shadow Shot Sunday: I See Shadows

September 27, 2008 | Filed Under Photo Blogging Theme Day, Self-Portrait, Shadow Shot Sunday, Shadows

Here’s another self-portrait.  I’d just bought a pair of nice black shoes and was walking back home.  I was happy about my new shoes.  Unfortunately, during the week, when I wore them, I discovered that after a few hours, my feet really hurt.   I’m not sure what the problem is.  Perhaps the shoes are too narrow?  I don’t know.  They were very comfortable when I tried them on in the store.  *sigh*  In this photo, I was wearing my crocs.

Stop by HEY HARRIET to see some awesome shadow shots by others!

Joanne:  I’m so glad you’re doing much better!  I wish you a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see what you blog about next!  xoxo   If you stop by her blog, be sure to leave her a get well wish.

  1. That’s too bad about our new shoes. I hope you can make some kind of change to make them work out. I do a lot of walking too (I have no car or bicycle), so shoes are important. I like the first shadow shot:)

  2. Yay! Two shadow shots this week! These are cool Paz! Sorry your shoes are hurting your feet. Maybe you just need to wear them in a bit & then they’ll be comfy. I’ve had that problem with shoes & they usually come good after a while. Just means a short period of painful feet though! Hope you’re resting your poor little feet & you’re having a good weekend :)

  3. Hi Paz, im with Harriet, maybe a bit of wearing in around the house will have them sorted out, I’m one for the crocs too!! so comfy its hard to wear normal shoes!! Great SS’s, i like the black and white. Great idea for the SSS button, Tracy did a good job. Happy Sunday too you.

  4. Paz, I’ve had that problem I don’t know how many times. I’ve heard you’re supposed to try on shoes in the evening when your foot is just a tad bigger than it is earlier in the day. That way you don’t run the risk of buying a shoe that’s too “small”.

Love both of your shadow shots! And kudos to you for giving T the idea for the SSS button! :D

  5. Nice shadow spot Paz!

I hate when new shoes hurt! Maybe they have to be broken in by just wearing them a short time every day for awhile? Do your feet swell? That happens to me by the end of a long day and then all my shoes hurt!

  6. Sorry to hear about the shoes. I’m so choosy about them – I tend to buy the same pair every time mine wear out LOL That way, I already know they’ll be fine. Nice shots and thanks for the button idea – awesome!

  7. Love both shadow pics, but I think the first one wins for me! I love the pavement textures and the extra interest of shadow foliage!

Re your feet + shoes: Have you tried Vaseline on the shoes and your feet to soften both! Then there is less hard impact!

  8. Love the self portrait….we think you should have take one with the new shoes and one with the crocks and made us guess which “you” had the sore feet!!!!
I think we like the top one the best…..have a great weekend!

I’m voting for the first one but they’re both great. I hate it when my feet hurt so I feel your pain.

  12. That first image is so artistic, wonderful!

News shoes, and taking them out for such a long at time? Who wouldn’t rebel against that? ;-) I hope they behave after a few more shorter breaking-in walks!

  15. Sorry about the shoes; hate when it happens. Sometimes when I love the shoes a lot, I do whatever possible to make them more comfortable: even if it means stretching them out by wearing them at home with reall thick socks.

    anyway…

I’m a fan of shadow photos; great shot.

  16. Definitely the top one (for me), rich of texture and shadows, the other one is a bit to minimalistic for me. Shoe shopping is something I find VERY difficult (I want them to be comfortable, suited for bad weather and pretty), so I mostly postpone it untill I have a hole in my present shoes.

  17. i always have that problem with shoes too. i think out of both pics the top is my favorite, the shadows sprinkled around of a nearby tree really adds a lot of interest. what are you carrying? a briefcase, suitcase? looks like you were going somewhere…

  18. Thanks, Paz, for the get well wishes!!! You are the best…
I know exactly what you mean about shoes being comfortable in the store and then hurting your feet when you wear them for a few hours, and I echo that *sigh*! I am glad to hear you are back at work – but take it easy on yourself so that you don’t end up exhausted and sick. Happy Sunday, Paz. Have a relaxing day, friend.

  19. Hi Juana and welcome! Yeah, shoes are important. I didn’t bother taking them back.

Hi Harriet: Yes, I’m resting my feet. At this point, I’m afraid to put those shoes back on again.

Hi Annette: Thanks for the advice about trying them on again.

Hi Sandra: Ahhh! Trying shoes on in the evening? I’ll do that next time. ;-)

Hi Pat: Yes, my feet swell. Started with my ankles. Never happened before with shoes, though. First time that I recall.

Hi Toni: The same pair of shoes isn’t such a bad idea. Hmm… ;-)

Hi Gemma: I hadn’t thought about using vaseline. Hmmm… thanks for letting me know your preference about the photo.

Hi Karla & Karrie: LOL! I love your idea of taking the photo with the two shoes and letting you guess which hurt my feet. Next time! ;-)

    Hi Sharon: LOL! Thanks!

    Hi Rhonda: Thanks! ;-)

    Hi Lily: Thank you!

Hi Merisi: Thanks. I’ll probably wear them for shorter periods of time.

Hi Kirsten: Thanks! Glad you’re home, safe and sound.

    Hi Ctmott: Thanks!

Hi Olga: Thanks! Perhaps we’ll get a chance to see your shadow shots? That would be cool! ;-)

Hi Hildegarde: With the exception of books, I’m not crazy about shopping. ;-) I loved your first shadow shot!

Hi Christine: LOL! The shadows can certainly be deceiving. I was at my bummiest, wearing my sweats, my Crocs, a handbag on my left shoulder and in my right hand a bag with the box of my new shoes. Oh, I almost forgot — camera around my neck. ;-) I was going home after a trip to the shoe store.

Hi Joanne: Good to see you here! Returning to work has made it a tiring week for me, but I’ll be sure to follow your advice take it easy.

    Happy Sunday to all!

  20. Two wonderful shadow photos.
About shoes, it’s true, often they are ok when one tries them in the store: but after a walk they can be not very comfortable… ;)

  24. Oh, what a coincidence, I got me a pair of new black shoes too, actually a pair of men’s shoes since I couldn’t find any women models with the right Pia-look and they are just so very comfy in every single way – and I’m usually the poster-person for a blister-woman…;)

I’m sorry to hear that your new shoes doesn’t fit all that well, since I really do not in any way like Crocs on people over the age of five I was happy to hear that you had found yourself a pair of new ones…;o)

Hi Ann: Thanks! Perhaps, you’ll join us next time? The more, the merrier! ;-)

Hi Gina: Thanks! My feet are better now. I just have to think about whether I want to try breaking the shoes in by wearing them again. ;-)

  28. I like your shadow, it’s very business like. Hopefully your shoes will become more comfortable over time. I my new shoes around the house with socks to wear them in (can be a little embarrassing if you have unexpected visiters though).

  31. Hi Twinkle Star Art: Welcome! Thanks! Actually, my attire was far from business-like as I was wearing sweatpants. LOL! I’ll try wearing the shoes at home with socks. I paid a lot of money for those shoes, so I’d better break them in.

Hi Ali: Thanks for letting me know your preference.

    Hi Per: Thank you!

    Best,
