White Coneflowers (Echinacea)

August 7, 2008 | Filed Under Colors, Coneflowers (Echinacea), Flowers, Parks, Riverside Park, White

This Monday, I was feeling so good that I thought I was well enough to go out and exercise.  Never mind that the week before, I’d tried to do the same thing and only made it as far as 2 blocks, when I was forced to return home in pain.  Never mind that my doctor told me that it was too soon to do that and I’ll have to wait 6 to 8 weeks before doing anything like that.  Yeah, yeah, I know I’m supposed to listen to the doctor but I was feeling good, I tell you.  I was feeling much better than the week before.  So I thought it would be okay to go walking and have a chance to take some new photos.

Well, it was a BIG mistake because it turns out that I overdid it.  Unlike the first time, I walked a bit further than the two blocks but I still didn’t get far.  After a while, I had to turn around and go back home.  I was in pain and not feeling so good.  It has taken the rest of the week to start to feel better.

Okay, so I’ve learned my lesson — twice.  I’m taking it easy, I really am taking it easy.

In the meantime, here is one of the photos I took on my walk, towards Riverside Park, before I had to turn around.  I find myself liking this flower more and more.  After I posted the purple version of this flower yesterday, I learned from you, dear readers, that it’s called a Coneflower (Echinacea).  Thank you.  I like to learn new things from y’all.    ;-)

Out of the three photos, I couldn’t figure out which photo to post.  I like them all, so I posted them all.  Which one do you like?  Do you have a preference?

Have a good Friday!

Paz

Ed. Note:  Thanks everyone, again, for your concern about my health and recovery.  I promise, I’m going to take it easy.  I AM taking it easy.  Right now I’m watching the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics.  ;-)

  3. I hope you follow the doctor’s orders now! It’s hard when you feel good at home to just be laying around and resting. I hear this all the time from employees off on a leave of absence, and then they try to do something like you did and take even longer to heal. Okay…enough lecturing…sorry about that.

I like the first and second photos the best. Seriously, take care of yourself! :)

  4. Paz, it’s hard to listen to your doctor, especially when you start to feel good. I know. Just take it slow and easy, it’ll save you some time in the long run. I love all three pictures! :)

  6. You’re not really feeling good, you’re just getting better at ignoring the bad feelings. Keep telling yourself this and maybe it’ll help. ;)

  10. I like the first photo, it reminds me of my dogs cute face looking up at me when her ears are down. I know, weird comparison, but that’s what I thought of.

  12. Hi Paz….I’m glad you finally decided to REALLY take it easy! So be sure to follow your own advice for a couple weeks at least….

Thanks for telling me what this flower is…I’ve always been attracted to that shape, with the petals dropping down to gracefully all around the edge like that. That’s why I like the first photo best; it shows off the lovely shape so clearly. And I love the white/orange combination too.
