A View from the Bus

This bus is going from the West side to the East side of Manhattan, across Central Park. Sitting in the front of the bus, I see what the bus driver sees. Good thing there isn’t any traffic.
Happy weekend, all!

Ed. Note: For those curious or concerned, I was sitting up front in the bus when I took this photo. It wouldn’t be a smart thing to stand and take photos in a moving city bus. If the bus made a sudden stop (which happens often), I could see myself lunging forward towards the windshield. Wouldn’t want that.
Also, while the bus is in motion, there’s a white line on the floor of the bus, away from the front area, behind which passengers are instructed to stand (Note the ‘Danger’ sign in the photo.). It’s a way to prevent accidents on the bus or serious injuries in case there’s an accident. I’ve been on a bus on different occasions, where the bus driver will refuse to continue driving if a passenger refuses to move behind the white line.

Happy weekend back at ya!
definitely a good view..i’d like to sit there too, happy weekend
Cental Park is so beautiful. It must be a nice ride with a great view!
A lighthearted trip on a bus is always a sort of recreation for me.
Very fine image.
Love this perspective! There is a kind of excitement as you approach that tunnel!
And I would like to thank you for all your lovely comments on my blog!
Hey that’s a great view you have there! We don’t have seats that close to the front of buses for passengers over here. Buses are a fun way to travel around because you can just sit back & take in the sights. And take photos of the sights! Very cool!
What a gorgeous view!
beautiful picture!
Happy weekend
I think it looks like you’re standing in the door area, while the bus is moving.
Hi Paz! First of all many thanks for your comment on my post of 08.08.08 at 08h08 at Blogtrotter, now in Kos, Greece! It was great to read you there. Second, sorry for the long delay to come here, but August was a terribly busy month, as everybody else seems to be in vacation…
Anyhow, I found sometime now to land here and enjoy your blog. Central Park, Emanu-el, Petunias… Great treat!
Wish you a great weekend!
PS: Thanks for the compliment!
What a view! I don’t think I’d do too good sitting up front like that though, bus hurtling through traffic and under bridges–LOL! I like how you take us all over NYC, Paz!
) Happy weekend, my friend ((HUGS))
Happy Weekend!
We are back from our “Staycation” on Long Island.
Looking forward to catching up with you.
Danger lurks everywhere, including the fronts of buses.
Does this mean you had to stand going crosstown?
You carry a camera like a good boy scout carries a compass.
You’re always prepared.
That’s why you never miss a good shot.
It’s been forever since I’ve been on a bus! Love that you always take pictures, of everything! My kind of gal!
Hi June: Thanks!
Hi M.Kate: Thank you!
Hi Lily: When it’s not crowded and you have a seat, it’s a nice and quick ride across town.
Hi Pietro: I like lighthearted trips.
Hi Gemma: Yes, there is a sort of excitement, no matter how many times you go through the tunnel.
Hi Harriet: I like to take photos from the bus.
Oi C: Thanks!
Hi DaviMack: No way! If I did that, I go flying through the bus and hurt myself — especially if the bus stops short, which it does often. Don’t want that. I’m sitting in the first seat in the front of the bus.
Hi Trotter: I look forward to your Greece photos. I love Greece and its islands.
Hi Tracy: Okay, so we’ll sit in the middle of the bus, even though I think you’ll be okay in the front.
Hugs right back!
Hi Elizabeth: Glad you’re back! Yay!
Hi Bonnie: No way! As I mentioned above, I was sitting down up in the front. Not a good idea to stand and try and take a pic on a moving bus, especially in NYC.
LOL! Yes, I do try to carry my camera with me most times.
Hi Sandra: I actually prefer a car ride than a bus or subway ride. I prefer to be chauffeured around.
LOL! I take photos of anything that catches my eye. I guess that’s everything.
Thanks for stopping by, all!
Paz
Hi Paz! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the flowers. Did you notice in the previous post that I posted a photo of the same flowers as you did? They are related to a petunia, but their name is Calibrachoa or Million Bells.
They are on the Upper West Side.
I love Central Park! You were very close to where our daughter and SIL live when you took this photo
I enjoyed looking at your neat photos of the city. It’s a fascinating place.
Hi Kerri: Welcome! Yes, I did notice the flowers. Lovely flowers — all your flowers. I love the name “Million Bells.” How nice your daughter and SIL live in the city. I love the Upper West Side.
Thanks for stopping by!
