Take Me Out to the Ball Game…
June 27, 2008 | Filed Under Stadiums, The Bronx, Yankee Stadium

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowds;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win, it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game (Chorus)
– Jack Norworth & Albert Von Tilzer
Unofficial baseball anthem
Yes, baseball is supposed to be an American national pastime but I’ve never been to a ball game. Not one.
However, I’ve passed by both baseball stadiums (Yankee and Shea) several times. I took this photo of Yankee stadium just recently. This is the old stadium. Next to it, a new stadium is being built. It’s weird to see the two stadiums side by side. I wonder what’s going to happen to the old stadium after the new one is completed. I wonder if they’ll tear it down.
Have any of you been to a baseball game?
Paz

Never been to one (and never played, for that matter). Obviously baseball is not as big in Sweden but we do have a national league.
You know, I’ve never been to one either!
i wish they weren’t going to tear the old one down.
We’ll be in the bleachers on Monday.
I’ll keep you posted.
I have not only been to many baseball games (Toronto Blue Jays are my home team, and while in California in May we went to 3 NL games in San Diego, LA and San Francisco), I’ve played the game too!! My sons have both played baseball for many years in intra-mural leagues. One is fantastic at 1st base, the other is a tremendous pitcher.
Shame that they are tearing down the old Yankee stadium. That’s one I’ve never been to but both my boys have and one actually went to a game there.
Hey Paz!
Hope you are having a lovely day. Have you found any dog babysitters/walkers? I’ve been thinking good thoughts.
Well, I’ve been to ballgames, but it’s not my thing. Guess everyone should go to an organized sporting event. It’s interesting people watching. But I don’t like sitting with crowds like that very much!
Happy Saturday!

thanks for dropping by.
That sure would be fun!
I might go to a game in San Fran..
Great shots! I’ve never been to a Major league game, though i played when I was 10 on the Eagles. I was # 13. I’m reading Summerland by Michael chabon. Baseball will never be the same for me. In a good way.
Hi Paz! Back to blogosphere after another busy (and annoying) week…
)
Never saw a baseball game; actually, worse than baseball only cricket…
Great shot of NYC clouds, and lovely car, but not as a home… Better sit on a bench!
5:30 a.m.? I always admire those who wake up early; amazing…
Meanwhile Blogtrotter is still strolling in the streets of Santiago de Compostela, now racing the famous Paris-Dakar… Enjoy and have a nice weekend!
We’re going to a ball game on July 4th esp. to see the fi reworks. It’ll be the first time for my kids. My son asked if he could bring his little psp/video game to play. : ) I guess he thinks he’ll be bored.
But it is a good american experience.
Hi everyone: Thanks for stopping by!
Paz
Love your photos. Especially the pigeon! He sure looks well fed
I’m glad I discovered this cool blog!
I’ve never been to a baseball game. It’s not very popular here in Australia. It’s all football, football, & more football over here! Ick!
Hi Harriet: Welcome! Football, huh? Or soccer as it’s known to us Americans.
About the pigeon, I don’t know where they get their food but he does look well fed.
Best,
Paz
My Dad used to take me to games at Yankee stadium all the time. Saw a couple of Championship clinchers right there.
I did not realize they were building a new one. That one was the new one when I was a kid.
Hi Frank: How exciting for you, especially as a kid to go there with your dad. Sounded like lots of fun. Yup, there’s a new one coming up.
