Looking Above #8

It can sometimes get overwhelming to look up and see all these looming buildings but it’s also fascinating to think about its construction and  design.

Despite the tall buildings in midtown, one can still look up and enjoy the beauty of the sky. There are no obstructions.

This pigeon watched me as I watched it and slowly pulled out my camera.   We had a staring contest of sorts but she didn’t fly away.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game…

June 27, 2008 | Filed Under Stadiums, The Bronx, Yankee Stadium | 14 Comments

Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowds;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win, it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game (Chorus)

– Jack Norworth & Albert Von Tilzer

Unofficial baseball anthem

Yes, baseball is supposed to be an American national pastime but I’ve never been to a ball game.  Not one.

However, I’ve passed by both baseball stadiums (Yankee and Shea) several times.  I took this photo of Yankee stadium just recently.  This is the old stadium.  Next to it, a new stadium is being built.  It’s weird to see the two stadiums side by side.  I wonder what’s going to happen to the old stadium after the new one is completed.  I wonder if they’ll tear it down.

Have any of you been to a baseball game?

I don’t know the names of most flowers.  I only know that I love them.  Anyone know the name of this flower?  Magnolia?

Paz

Ed. Note:  The consensus is that this flower is an Oleander.  Thanks so much for your help.  I love to learn something new from you all.
