Times Square
December 31, 2007 | Filed Under City Streets and Sidewalks, Times Square

In less than 24 hours, Times Square will be even more crowded than usual as people gather to celebrate New Year’s Day and watch the famous ball drop. I’ll be watching from the comfort of my bed (If I don’t fall asleep first, that is).

Happy New York Year.
All the best to you, Paz, and a Happy New Year! I will continue to follow your New York minutes with interest in 2008.
Happy New Year to you. Have you ever gone to Times Square on New Years Eve before? I can’t imagine being there with all the people. I will also be watching from the comfort of my home!
I wish we had a feed of the countdown in Time Square here in Manila. But do enjoy it, Paz!
Happy 2008!

It is a good idea to avoid the crowds by spending New Year’s Eve at home. Good luck and a happy, long life to you, dear Paz.
I was in NYC this past weekend and came across the Penny Field at Rockefeller Center. It’s about 100 million pennies lying on the sidewalk. Will be given to charity after tonight.
Hi Britt-Arnhild: Thanks! I like that — A “New York Year”!
Hi Peter: Thanks so much! I wish you all the best, too, and am happy you’ll continue to stop by. Yay! Likewise, I plan on visiting fristedt.org regularly this New Year. It will be fun.
Hi Melissa: I’ve gone to Times Square twice with my family — years ago. Back in he 70s and 80s. Back then there were lots of people and it was comfortably crowded. No big problem. Today it’s much different. Overcrowded, security measures, etc… do not make it fun to go down there anymore. Like you, I prefer to watch the goings on from the comfort of my home. Actually, this year, I fell asleep before the Ball dropped. haha!
Hi there Joy: That would be cool to have a feed to Manila.
Hi Olivia: I agree about avoiding crowds. I’m not crazy about them.
Hi Rhea: Welcome! I heard about the Penny Field at Rockefeller Center. Nice idea for charity. When I went down there, I didn’t see them. Probably because there were sooooooo many people there. I trust you had a fun visit to the city.
Happy New Year, everyone! I wish you all the best for this New Year.
