She is So Serious

This lady is centered on top of an apartment building entrance along with two hungry-looking lions. Maybe that’s why she’s so serious-looking. A minute before taking the photo, I could have sworn I heard a lion growl. Seriously. Maybe it was just me.

Cotton candy, anyone?

A minute before and after, everyone bypassed this man trying to sell his cotton candy. I wonder if he made any sales that day. It wasn’t later that it occurred to me that I should have/could have bought something from him….

After the Snow
December 18, 2007 | Filed Under New York Cityscape | 7 Comments

These two photos are basically the same. One shows more buildings, the other shows less. I just couldn’t make up my mind, which one to post (unfortunately, I have that problem a lot.). Which one do you like better?
A minute before: A day before: it snowed and the atmosphere had this misty quality to it as seen in the photo.

Ed. note: Peter suggested I crop the first photo, which looks so much better. Look below at the last photo. Thanks, Peter!

Final photo that has been cropped.
Brave Pigeon
December 17, 2007 | Filed Under Birds, New York City Wildlife, Pigeons | 6 Comments

I’m on the look out for other birds in NYC. In the meantime, I continue to take photos of pigeons since they are the only birds I see most (and House Sparrows). This was the only brave pigeon to stay in his (her?) spot. His friends immediately flew away when they saw me looking at them. I hadn’t even lifted my camera yet and they were out of there! Camera shy, as many New Yorkers are, I suppose.
